ROUND UP: LLANGEFNI EXTEND LEAD AT THE TOP TO 5 POINTS

A 3-1 win at Barmouth on Saturday (Goals from Kev Lloyd, Liam Morris and Matthew Jones) and a 2-0 win at Nantlle Vale last night (Goals from Matthew Jones and Liam Morris) means Llangefni are 5 points ahead of 2nd place Bodedern with 2 games left to play. A win at Llanrwst on Saturday will guarantee 1st place for the Town who also have the Mawddach Cup Final to look forward to on the 11th of May.

Llangefni Town Reserves won 6-1 at Lon Talwrn on Saturday against Llandyrnog Utd Reserves thanks to 4 goals from Cameron Jones and 2 from Steven Jones. They also produced a good performance against champions Porthmadog Reserves last night and were unlucky to lose 2-0 after creating several chances in a very close match.  

ALL TO PLAY FOR DESPITE SETBACK

Llangefni suffered a minor setback in their quest for promotion after a shock 2-0 home defeat against Mynydd Llandegai on Tuesday night. It's already been a great season with a trophy in the cabinet and promotion still very much in our hands. We also have another final to look forward to next month. It's now vital that everyone including players, staff, committee members and our loyal supporters pull together to help the team to finish the season in style.

5 STAR PERFORMANCE FROM THE RESERVES

Llangefni Town Reserves beat Llanrug Utd Reserves 5-0 at Lon Talwrn on Friday night. Top scorer Aaron Rickards scored his first hat-trick of the season while defender Sion Jones scored his 4th goal in 4 games. Midfielder Steven Jones scored the goal of the game when he finished off a great move with a header after a superb cross from Luke Waller who also had a fine game. Manager Gafyn Buckland had this to say after the game. “It was and outstanding performance and shows how far we’ve come as a team this season. Hard work on the training ground from the players and coaches is paying off. There’s still a lot of room for improvement but tonight was a massive step in the right direction.”

Llandyrnog United 1 - 2 Llangefni Town

Kev Lloyd fired in an 86th minute penalty as Cefni came from behind to beat Llandyrnog United 2-1 to claim a vital Welsh Alliance League win.


On the 25th minute, Danny Roberts opened the scoring for the hosts, with his back to goal he managed to hook the ball into the top corner leaving Sinclair in Cefni’s goal with no chance.


It took until the 72nd minute for Cefni to equalise, Kev Lloyd chased down a flick on from Craig Roberts to squeeze his shot off the post and in.  In the dying minutes of the match, Llangefni throwing everything forward in search of a winner. The opportunity came in the 86th minute after Andy Sinclair was bought down in the box. Kev Lloyd stepped up to calmly slot in the penalty to seal the 2-1 win.  


Next up is Llanrwst United home, Wednesday night 7:30 kickoff.
